ITINERARY – 11 DAYS 10 NIGHTS
DAY 01: AIRPORT – NEGOMBO – FLY OUT & FLY IN
Depart from UK to SRI LNKA
DAY 02: COLOMBO – HABARANA – 175 KMS DRIVE
On arrival we transfer to PINNAWELA ELEPHANT ORPHANGE where the elephants are being taken care of, and then to HABARANA on a scenic drive that take you through small villages interspersed with paddy fields, coconut and rubber plantations. Check in to hotel and enjoy our first Sri Lankan sunset.
DAY 03: HABARANA – (WILDLIFE & TREKKING) – 4 HOURS TREK
Your challenge begins with a RITIGALA TREK through jungle, passing man-made lakes and into local farmland, with villagers going about their daily life, protecting their plots from wild elephants. We have organized locally made village (Organic) lunch before entering to KAUDULLA NATIONAL PARK for wild life safari.
DAY 04: HABARANA – (CLIMB SIGIRIYA) – 04 HOURS CLIMB
Today you will be driven to the starting point of SIGIRIYA itself is a hard core excursion, so we avoid planning any other trekking except Sigiriya, prepare to hike the ROCK FORTRESS of Sigiriya, one of Sri Lanka’s major attractions which have World Heritage status. With the afternoon to explore this unique complex of water gardens and beautiful frescos we end the day with a climb to the rock summit to watch the surrounding countryside glow as the sun sets. (Optional – if the guests want to trek we can do PIDURANGALA TREK to SIGIRIYA ROCK)
DAY 05: DAMBULLA (CAVE TEMPLE TREK) – 04 HOURS TREK
After an early breakfast start the INAMALUWA TREK along the Kandalama water reserve to DAMBULLA. This town is known for its cave temples dating back to the 1st Century BC and from this vantage point the views over the countryside are beautiful. At the end of our trekking day we take a short transfer to our lodge for lunch, with the rest of the day free to explore the history of the caves.
DAY 06:HABARANA – KANDY – 100 KMS DRIVE
We will not be doing any walking nor trekking since the journey is far too long from HABARANA to KANDY, thus we will drive you to KANDY, where you will visit the much revered TEMPLE OF (BUDDHA’S) TOOTH RELIC and cultural show (Sri Lankan traditional folk dance)
DAY 07:KANDY – (KNUCKLES MOUNTAIN) – 05 HOURS TREK
After breakfast depart to the Knuckles Valley along rough trails to the village of Meemure, which is only accessible by foot. Amongst the local community we have locally prepared lunch served on lotus leaf and those that wish have the chance to brave the mountain waters for a swim in the cool river. From here we climb out of the valley and make our way to the Nitro Caves before returning to the hotel in KANDY.
DAY 08:KANDY – NUWARA ELIYA (HORTON PLAINS TREK) – 04 HOURS TREK
HORTON PLAINS NATIONAL PARK is a protected area in the central highlands of Sri Lanka and is covered by montane grassland and cloud forest. This plateau at an altitude of 2,100–2,300 meters is rich in biodiversity and many species found here are endemic to the region. Large herds of Sri Lankan Sambar Deer feature as typical mammals, and the park is also an Important Bird Area with many species not only endemic to Sri Lanka but restricted to the Horton Plains. The sheer precipice of World’s End and Baker’s Falls are among the tourist attractions of the park.
DAY 09: NUWARA ELIYA – ADAM’S PEAK – 04 HOURS TREK
Depart from Nuwara Eliya to climb the ADAM’S PEAK; Access to the mountain is possible by 6 trails: however will take only either Ratnapura-Palabaddala, or, Kuruwita-Erathnatrails, each of these trails takes nearly 5 hours of trekking. It’s not advisory to climb at night since the time of your arrival is off season for Adam’s peak pilgrimage.
DAY 10: HATTON – COLOMBO (RAFTING & RAIN FOREST HIKE) – 02 HOURS TREK
Depart from Hatton and reach KITULGALA for a day of celebration in one of great white water river for WHITE WATER RAFTING, this is class 3 river which is safe for non-swimmers and for the beginners as well, 6 major rapids down the river coupled with a very tempting RAIN FOREST HIKE to a 3 sections of WATERSLIDES, dare to take confidence jump to a rapids and to natural pool by the streams. Check in to Colombo hotel for overnight.
DAY 11: COLOMBO – AIRPORT – 50 KMS DRIVE
Explore the early stage of old COLOMBO turning out to be a bright and modernize city in the country, and transfer to the airport to connect to your flight. (Reporting time at airport 3 hours before flight as required by airline)
